Art Installation Guide
Before you start:
- ART requires TSM Server Version 5.4 or higher.
- ART runs under VMware:
- Large sites usually use VMware ESX for performance.
- If you're unfamiliar with VMware, don't worry, the tools you need to use ART are available for free. We recommend you get VMware Player (Windows, Linux) or VMware Fusion (Mac) for a quick and easy way to run the ART virtual machine.
- ART's other prerequisites.

Setup
ART is web-based. Point your browser to the IP address shown on the VMware Console under "Getting Started with ART".
- Click "Login" (upper right), and log in as "art", password "tsmworks".
- Click the "TSM Servers" tab, a window will open asking for your license.
- Register, and a trial license goes to your mailbox immediately. (Sometimes these get lost in your Junk Mail folder. The subject line reads "TSMworks ART Trial License".)
- Copy the entire line (not just the "key=xxx" part) from your the Trial License email, paste it into ART's license window, and click Submit. The line looks like this:
name=My Corp id=41 nodes=1 key=0e7172b56a4be10a64c1fdf4e54412c46d50b03d
- Return to the "TSM Servers" tab, then click "Add". Enter your TSM server's contact information. Repeat for other TSM servers.
- Click the "Preferences" tab, and review the Basic Settings. Float your mouse over each field for explanations.
Execute
- Click the Dashboard tab, then "Start a New Sweep".
- Wait for the first test to physically restore files. The dashboard refreshes automatically, and Sweep 1 should begin to show progress in 5 minutes or so. Hover the mouse over the pause and stop buttons to the left of the sweep, to see how to control it. Below is a dashboard that has run 7 sweeps already.
Optional:
Use the Accounts tab to change the administrator password or add yourself as a new administrator; replace null@null.net with your email address.
You can also schedule automatic sweeps using crontab, Autosys or other scheduler. Just have the scheduler run "/home/art/script/sweeper_daemon" as user "art".
